I’m happy for my best friend.

Really, I am.

Seeing her so in love is wonderful… except now I have a problem.

I refuse to go to another wedding as the token single friend.

So I come up with a simple plan— find a fake boyfriend.

Just someone to bring to the wedding, someone temporary, someone safe.

The only problem?

The man I ask is the first person who has ever made my heart race.

Now I’m worried that I’m falling for my fake boyfriend, and I don’t know how to stop it.

I don’t come into town unless I have to.

People talk too much, they stare too much, they ask too many damn questions.

My cabin in the woods suits me just fine.

Until the day I see her.

When she walks up to me and asks me out, I think that I must be dreaming. 

Then she explains that it would be fake, and I’m left scrambling for a way to make this fake relationship real. 

Now I’m coming to town a lot more than I used to, just to catch a glimpse of her, just to make sure she’s okay.

Just to be closer to the woman who doesn’t even realize she’s already mine.
